Construction Foreman

Job Description:

 VALMAR BUILDERS, is currently looking for a Framing Foreman in the Construction Department. The Framing-Superintendent is accountable for delivering projects on time and with quality and attention to detail, while upholding ValMar Builders, high standards for safety, environmental compliance, project tracking, and documentation, and handling jobsite interpersonal issues in an appropriate manner.

Framing Foreman will be responsible to manage project field teams. Projects located in the Fort Worth area. All major tools and equipment provided, smaller power and hand tools of the trade expected to be supplied by the candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·        Prepares project site and arranges for installation of temporary facilities required for construction.

·        Plan, coordinate, and manage day-to-day project activities to meet project schedule, quality, and budget objectives.

·        Monitor project safety and enforce VALMAR BUILDERS standards with all onsite personnel without exception to ensure the project is safe for all workers and visitors.

·        Prepare for and conduct all onsite subcontractor meetings.

·        Work with local building officials to schedule inspections, and re-inspections as required to obtain ultimate project sign-off.

·        Take ownership and responsibility for the completion of the project punch list, assuring smooth product transition to property/asset management.

·        Oversee and assist in training assistant superintendent/forklift driver, taking responsibility for ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.

·        Prepare and submit RFIs to the office to resolve subcontractor questions.

·        Document all subcontractor back charges for repairs of damaged work, and other labor required by VALMAR BUILDERS to ensure the responsible party pays its share.

·        Complete all necessary paperwork (daily field logs, weekly safety meetings, employee sign in sheets, delivery sign in sheets, RFI requests, change order requests, etc.)

·        Approve subcontractors’ invoices with President/VP of Field Operations.

·        Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.

·        Ability to work additional hours as necessary to meet business needs.

·        Develops and maintains good rapport with General Contractor, subcontractors, city officials and inspectors.

·        Exhibit skills and behavior that establish and maintain harmonious working relationships between all members of the team.

·        Maintain construction inventory of company owned and leased equipment, furniture, and other materials on the jobsite.

·        Execute company policies and enforces uniformity on construction methods to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

·        Bilingual English/Spanish

·        OSHA 30 Certified preferred, with OSHA 10-hour minimum

·        Work effectively in high pressure situations

·        Ability to communicate organizational policies and other information to subordinates.

Education and/or Experience

·        High school diploma or equivalent.

·        Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in the construction field, with a focus on large, multifamily and commercial building projects.

·        Must have a vehicle capable of carrying supplies, valid driver’s license and must be able to travel and stay extended periods of time at the project.

·        Ability to utilize Framing applications on a smart phone, tablet, or laptop.

·        Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, & oral form.

·        Proficient with technologies and applications used in business and on construction sites, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project software.

Technical & Physical:

·        5+ Years working on large and medium sized commercial construction projects.

·        Experience with and high comprehension of general construction documents such as “Architectural Drawings / Structural Drawings / Product Installation and Shop Drawings.”

·        Able to work in basic “APPs and Software” from a remote device such as an I-Phone & Tablet. Basic knowledge of Microsoft office, & Excel desired but training is available to enhance knowledge and skill level of each.

·        Excellent hand-eye coordination.

·        Experience in the safe operation of mechanical equipment such as fork-lifts, telescoping man lifts, scissor lifts, swing stage, and larger power tools stationary or mobile.

·        Experience working directly with Lead Superintendents.

·        Experience with STICK framed systems by multiple national manufactures.

·        Comfortable working at heights.

·        Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background check.

·        Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)

·        May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis

·        May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.

·        May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.

·        Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.

·        Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.

·        Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.

·        Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

·        Will lift, push or pull objects up to 75Ibs. on an occasional basis

·        Work up to a 10–12-hour shifts in varying temperatures and outside conditions.

Schedule:

  • 10-hour shifts M-F, half day Saturdays

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
